The SpellTower app has a beautiful look. Your goal is to find words and get them out of your way. Letters keep rising from the bottom of your screen, so you should use some strategy to keep them down. The game is over when letters reach the top of the screen.

SpellTower has 4 awesome modes. The puzzle mode brings you new row of letters as you make new words. The extreme mode adds a minimum word length to the equation. SpellTower has a rush mode which will test your speed. The game provides support for Game Center.

SpellTower is one of the most fun word games we have tested. It goes beyond what simple word games offer and adds a strategic element to the game. This is quite addictive too. It’s definitely a keeper.

The Blockwick game is very simple to pick up. You get all kinds of blocks with different shapes. Your goal is to put them together. As you do, their symbols light up. The graphics in this game are cool looking. The game play is simple but could get challenging as you work your way through the first 60 puzzles. If you need more puzzles, you can always pay for them.

Blockwick is not the most challenging puzzle we have tested on iPhone. But it looks good and is easy to get started with. The game has a lot of potential. We would love to get more free levels though.

Raddoll Blaster 2 is easy to pick up and quite addictive. Your goal is to fire rag-dolls to solve puzzle. The graphics in the game are pretty decent. Getting a hang of it is not that difficult either. The game offers over 150 levels. Features such as gravity effects and teleporters make the game a lot of fun.

The controls in Raddoll Blaster 2 are easy to use. The game keeps track of your progress and lets you submit your scores online. This is one of those games that almost anyone can play. It is pretty fun all around.

Wind-up Knight is a side-scrolling adventure game with 50 levels. The game is easy to pick up and get started with. The action can be quite fun (involving wall sliding, double jumping, and …). You get 4 worlds to tackle. Wind-up Knight has great artwork and easy controls. All the equipment and weapons you get make this even more addictive to play.

I found Wind-up Knight to be quite fun and entertaining. The graphics are great. The controls easy to get used to. The music is pretty cool though. Overall, this is a pretty nice game to pick up to get over your most boring days.

Memory Trainer Pro comes with the following games: Memory, ABC123, and Cards. Your goal in these games is to remember the position of card pairs, keep track of sequences of numbers/letters, and reproduce the right combination of colors/numbers/figures respectively. Each game has 15 levels of difficulty. The game is not that hard to learn but it does get a bit challenging as you work your way through the early levels.

Memory Trainer Pro may not have the very best graphics around but it does have some quality brain games for you to play with. The app did crash on us a couple of times. The animation and sound effects are decent. Memory Trainer Pro works great on the iPad too.

FocusUp for iPhone is a number grid game that challenges your brain to stay focused for longer. You are provided with a grid containing 100 numbers. Players have to focus their game to find numbers quickly. The game does have levels for beginners (starting with a 16 number grid). It keeps track of your time and challenges you to beat your previous records. 5 different skins are included too.

FocusUp is not based on a super complex concept. But it does push you to focus your brain harder. It works for beginners and advanced users. The app is free at the time of this writing.

Ninja Throw is all about throwing those stars. That’s easier said than done though. In order to hit the gong in each level, you will have to think outside the box. For starters, you will have to find a way around physical obstacles. The Sensei characters add a cool twist to the game. They attract and repel your stars.

Ninja Throw is super easy to pick up. The graphics are not 3D but quite decent for this game genre. Ninja Throw looks deceptively easy. But it does have its challenging moments. Online scoring is supported too. I would love to see more challenging levels and twists added to the game though.

W.E.L.D.E.R. is easy to pick up. Your goal is to create word combos to earn more points. Sometimes you may be able to find a word without knowing its meaning. W.E.L.D.E.R. provides you with definitions for words (using iOS 5 dictionary). Using gem and gold tiles multiplies your score. 

W.E.L.D.E.R. offers 47 Game Center achievements. By using the special tiles, players can multiply their points quickly. The game is compatible with iCloud. Your game follows you wherever you go, even if you change your device. Facebook and Twitter sharing features are a plus.

W.E.L.D.E.R. has a decent interface and makes finding words more fun. It will help improve your vocabulary too. One fun word game to play on your iPhone and iPad.

Those of you who have played games such as Castle Clout in the past will find your experience in this game to be very familiar. Your goal is to launch projectiles to crush structures. You won’t be able to move on unless you destroy all the trolls. You get 64 levels to sink your teeth into. The game does require some strategy. Players have to choose their weapons wisely.

Troll Blaster has easy controls and a superb physics engine. The early levels are not that hard to pass. But the game play gets more challenging the more time you spend playing this game. Game Center is supported. Players have 27 achievements to go for.

Troll Blaster has colorful graphics and fun game play. It is one addictive projectile destruction game to play at home and on the road on your phone.

Contre Jour’s stunning graphics was the first thing that caught my eye. The puzzle is simple to pick up. You should use your finger and the gadgets available to you to guide creature Petit to the blue orb. 60 levels of play are included. Some of the levels were not that challenging. But a few of them do make you want to pull your hair out.

Contre Jour has intuitive controls. There are 10 elements for you to interact with (e.g. slingshots, blowers, …). The sound track is quite fun to listen to as well. You get to unlock achievements as you work your way through this game. Overall, this is one of the most beautiful puzzles I have played this year. It is quite addictive too.
