But to get the most out of what it has to offer, you will have to upgrade. Still, pretty handy tool to have for daily runners.

NYC Station Finder makes the process of finding the nearest station to your current location a piece of cake. Just hold your phone up to see which routes and stations are close to you. It shows you multiple subway station entrances to save you time. NYC Station Finder is a great tool for trip planning. It has street maps integrated to give you a better idea where you are in the city. Finding your route is easy. To plan your trip, just provide this tool with your current location and where you want to go to.

NYC Station Finder makes going around NYC easy and fun. No matter how much you know about the city, this tool can save you time getting to your destination. It even offers service alerts. What’s not to like?

There was a time when GPS apps were selling for close to $100 per copy. Garmin U.S.A. is much more affordable and comes with a ton of features. For starters, it comes with offline maps. That was a huge shortcoming in the previous app by Garmin. It has the same intuitive Garmin interface that we have come to love in our dedicated GPS devices. Its maps cover the lower 49 states.

Garmin USA provides users with voice-prompted turn by turn directions. It pronounces street names for you. To help you find your way around, it covers 3D buildings and landmarks. The lane assistance feature is pretty helpful too. As you can see in the above screenshot, Garmin USA shows you the speed limit so you can avoid tickets on the road.

Have you ever been in a situation where you did not know where you were? Garmin USA can tell you your exact location at all times. It is a pretty decent trip planner (w/ support for multi-stops). Real time traffic and fuel pricing information will cost you an additional $30 though.

Garmin USA is a much better effort by Garmin. It is one of the better iPhone GPS apps on the market. We did have some issues with its voice directions. The app is a bit pricey too. But it can get you to your destination faster.

Messenger Map is a beautiful application. It has everything you would need to share maps and directions with your friends and contacts. Messenger Map provides you with step by step driving instructions. Just like any other decent navigation app for iPhone, this app gives you access to a map to help you get around more conveniently.

Why would you want to use Messenger Map? It is pretty useful for group trips. Let’s say you want to get together with your old friends or family members at a specific location. This application can keep everyone in your group on the same page. Just get your directions and send them to those who want to see at the destination.

Messenger Map is free at the time of this writing. It is quite well designed and is the perfect tool for navigating new areas in groups. Great for short and long trips.

Augmented Driving adds an extra layer of information on the top of your reality view. It shows you all kinds of information on the objects on the road. It can automatically detect your lane and keep you alert all the time. Worried about speeding and getting ticketed for your troubles? This app can keep you honest. It can also tell you when you are driving too close to other cars.

Augmented Driving demonstrates what augmented reality technology can do for navigation applications. Of course, I would rather use this application on a larger screen than my iPhone’s. Still, this is a very useful application if you are not cautious on the road. It can keep you honest and get you to your destination in one piece. The app did crash on us the first time we tested it, but the latest update seems to have addressed that issue.

Garmin Streetpilot should have a familiar look and feel for those of you who have owned Garmin products in the past. For starters, it has up to date maps to help you get to your destination without getting lost. StreetPilot provides you with turn by turn directions. Street names are pronounced which helps.

If you are not familiar with Garmin products, you will still find the interface to be easy to figure out. Its 2D and 3D maps can help you find your way around more conveniently.

SteetPilot has a lot of potential. Garmin is always known for having some of the best GPS devices on the market. The maps do seem to be over 3G only. Let’s hope Garmin addresses that situation in the future. Good start but needs a bit of work.

One does not need to be technical to take advantage of I’m Right Here. You can use this app to send emails or SMS to others with map images or links. If you are into sending SMS, you are going to love this app. The map URLs are short, so you have space for other things (it has a built-in URL shortening service). E-mails can include map image and link.

I’m Right Here is very easy to use and does what it promises effectively. Sending your information to others should not take more than a couple of taps. It does remember your last contact which is helpful. Thanks to this app, your friends will never have trouble finding where you are.

If you want to approach fitness the scientific way, you are going to need to keep track of important metrics such as distance, time, and speed. With Kinetic you can do that and much more.

Kinetic does have a very intuitive interface. It is developed to be highly customizable (even its look and feel can be customized). It has multiple training plans to help you stay on track and get your body in a better shape. Kinetic supports distance and time-based goals, so you won’t be exercising without a real goal.

Kinetic displays time, distance, speed, altitude, and maps. It offers a compass feature too which is nice. Want to customize it to fit your needs? You are covered there as well.

If you are planning to lose weight and need a sport GPS, Kinetic should help you out. It’s easy to use and gets the job done.

A PhiGolf NAVI has over 30K mapped courses. It shows you your distance to green. That includes horizontal distance in addition to elevation differences. The app is pretty flexible and can show your distance from any target.

A PhiGolf NAVI can keep track of your scores. You can record your scores and save shot counts. The shot tracker is pretty nice too. Its maps are pretty useful, especially if you want to get a better sense of what you are dealing with on your course.

A PhiGolf NAVI is a pretty decent rangefinder for iPhone. The fact that you don’t have to spend $300 or so on yet another device when you can use this app to turn your iPhone into a rangefinder is its strongest point.

Find My Mobile may require a MobileMe account, but that is a small price to pay if you have super sensitive data on your iPhone and want to have some insurance policy. The app locates your iPhone on a map. You can display a message on your iPhone’s screen and hope for the best. Of course, if your phone is stolen, you can use this service to help authorities catch the thief.

In order to get this service to work, you need to turn the app active on your devices after setting up your MobileMe account. You do get a 60-day trial period to test the service out. That’s a start. If you do not have a use for MobileMe or are using a competing service, then this app may not be that useful to you. Unless, you have made a habit of losing your iPhone all the time.

The app does what it promises though. Would have been nice if Apple had a separate subscription plan for it (or offered it completely for free).
