Are you a wine junkie? If so, then you should definitely try Wine Enthusiast Guide for the iPhone. WEN is one of the most comprehensive iPhone applications that I have seen on this platform. As the name suggests, Wine Enthusiast Guide is designed for folks who are into wine. The application has reviews, prices, and ratings for 64,000+ wines.

These guys know their wine. They keep adding reviews (about 500 a month) to the collection. What I like about this application is the fact that it allows you to find the bottle you are looking for a special occasion. And if you are truly crazy about wine, you can use Wine Enthusiast Guide to figure out if you are on your game. Now, I got to admit that you can be overwhelmed by the number of reviews that are available here, if you are not a wine fan. But for Wine junkies, WEN should be all they could handle (get the application here).

Losing weight is one of the biggest challenges most folks face during their lifetime. A few of us are lucky to stay in shape more easily than others. But the rest of us have to watch what we eat and exercise to lose the weight we have gained over the years. Now, you can have that extra motivation with “My Weight Loss Coach” application for the iPhone. You got to love the creative minds who are working hard to bring more value to the iPod Touch/iPhone platform. If you have been following this site, it’s no secret that I am a big fan of music apps. FingerPiano is another music application that provides immense value to music lovers. I am not a Piano player, and in fact I am not even that good with music. But with iPhone apps such as FingerPiano, anyone can start playing with music. You don’t have to be a musician to do it.

All you have to do is follow the scrolling notes and play with your forefinger. You can do it with one hand or two hand. There are 70 songs to choose from, so you will have plenty of options to choose from. FingerPiano is fun to play for everyone, but if you are someone who wants to play music but have no idea how, you are going to get the most value out of FingerPiano.

Between traveling and taking care of the holiday season chores, you often find yourself struggling to find time to do anything productive. But I would put the main blame on my iPhone. Since I have gotten it, I haven’t had one reason not to play with it. My latest favorite app is the skating app TouchGrind by Illusion Labs. TouchGrind is all about skating on your iPhone. Basically, you have to use your finger to do all kinds of tricks with your iPhone skateboard.

I got to say. The graphics is great. I also do like the fact that you get to unlock 12 boards. But the game takes a while to master. The most impressive aspect of this game is the physics of it. The tricks are not so easy to pull off at first, but if you play for it a while, you get a hang of it. The only thing that I wish I could was to be able to pull some of these tricks in real life. I guess that’s not happening anytime soon….

I have seen many cool games on the iPhone platform, but card games have always been my favorite. The thing about card games is that most of us have played them in real time, and while these games are often simple, they are addictive enough to keep us busy for hours (you may argue that Poker is not simple. You may be right but I would argue that it’s easy to play, regardless of how much you win or lose).

21 Pro puts you behind a BlackJack table and allows you to start learning the ins and outs of this game. If you are an expert Black Jack pro, you are still going to find 21 Pro useful.

I was very impressed with the graphics of this game. While not earth-shattering, the creators of 21 Pro have gone out of their way to create a unique BlackJack experience with their design. As expected, you can hit, stand, double down, split, and surrender with 21 Pro. You can also play up to 4 hands, which makes it more fun.

21 Pro is a great BlackJack learning tool. It has served as a great refresher for me, but if you are new to this game, you are going to learn how to play it like a pro by actually playing it. Highly recommended.

A lot of folks complain about iPhone apps not being for serious folks. Sure, games and puzzles are fun to play with, but we are now getting a taste of what it means to play wit ha serious iPhone application. FourTrack recording app is probably one of the best in this category.

FourTrack is a songwriting application that is made for song writers, singer, and players. I have never been what you can call a musician, but I know the real musicians get inspired by things that go around them, and having the ability to capture your ideas at the right time is one reason I love FourTrack (though my personal music ideas are often not good ones).

If you have the iPhone, you can use FourTrack with the built-in microphone. I have not tested the application on an iPod Touch but it seems you will need a third-party app to get it to work with it.

Four Track also allows you to download your recording to your desktop using WiFi Sync.You also get the tools that you need to compose music on the fly

The application is certainly not cheap. While you can use it to create personal music, I believe you got to have a passion for music to be able to get the most out of FourTrack. But serious musicians are going to get a kick out of this one.

DigiDrummer is a fun little application that allows you to play your drums out on the iPhone. Using Digidrummer, you can play along your music or even record your own work, and play it back later.

The application has a very low latency. You can also choose from 14 different drumsets including my favorite METAL2. There are also 8 drumpads available (see above).

DigiDrummer 1.9 does come with overdubbing, which means you can record and overdub your plays. Overall, the application is great to kill time (especially if you are at an Airport waiting to catch your flight).

In the past few months, I have seen many useful applications get launched on the iTunes. But Driving Test is probably the one that can save your life too. I still remember the day that I passed my license exam. I had no trouble scoring 95% but there were folks who were trying to pass the exam for the third or fourth time. Some folks are just not that good with exams, and you got to feel for them.

Driving Test is an application that allows you to master the signs and other driving concepts before taking the test.

Driving test has 385 questions and about 100 signs that you can test yourself on. That is enough to make you a super guru in this field. The questions are randomized which means you can’t cheat easily. You can also email yourself the results if you wish to review them at a later date.

Driving Test is a life saver as it allows you to master the signs and rules fast. I have always found it funny when folks complain about Driving test behind hard. Maybe the road test but not the written test. Either way, you won’t have to worry about it as long as you get Driving Test. And don’t for a second think that this application is only useful to the folks without a driver’s license. Based on my experience on the road, there are a whole lot of folks who need to take a look at these rules (yes, that red sign with the word “stop” on it does really mean stop!).

I don’t know what it is about fight games, but I just love games that involve bombing targets and fighting fighter planes. I guess I am still living in my old Atari world.

Chopper is one of those addictive games that you simply can’t get enough of (at least I can’t). The goal here is to complete missions and fight off tanks and bazooka equipped fighters (how cool is that?) in the process. You get your bombs and your machine guy, and you can go crazy with them like I do.

Chopper comes in 20 levels. As you can guess, the levels get quite difficult when you get close to finishing the game. But you don’t have to finish the game in one try. You can save (and auto-save) your progress so you won’t have to start from the scratch again. I think the game has a great potential. It’d be fun to get more options for weapons or unlocking bonus items. But at $0.99, it is still well worth it.

Most folks assume that in order to make it in the iPhone application business, you will have come up with some crazy complex application that no one knows how it works. The truth is simple, creative applications have a much better chance of bringing you success and money over the long run. Take a look at iFart. It’s very simple. Yet, it keeps putting smiles on people’s faces.

iFart has become extremely successful due to its viral nature. Folks can’t stop talking about that app that allows you to schedule farts in advance. There are plenty of other examples that show the K.I.S.S works and works big. Who says you have to be a rocket scientist to make a super successful iPhone application.
