With students going back to school, they better be ready for some of those science topics. Every student needs to know a bit of science. That applies to chemistry too (whether you hate it is another story). Some students may find chemistry difficult to master. Fortunately, there are plenty of fun apps available in iTunes that can help with that. Chem Pro is a chemistry app that covers plenty of lessons and tools to give students a better opportunity to master this topic.

Chem Pro has tens of videos on general chemistry that walk you through the topics you need to master to pass those chemistry exams with flying colors. The app does show you how to solve certain chemistry problems. Practice these lessons enough times, and you should be fine in those chemistry exams.

At the very least, Chem Pro can help you gain a better understanding of the topics your class has just covered. This application does have a flash card feature just in case you have trouble memorizing formulas and symbols more effectively.

Chem Pro would not be complete without calculators. It does have a molar mass calculator and a unit converter to help students tackle those chemistry problems in an easier fashion. While you don’t want to use these tools all the time (just to get the practice), they can save you some time with your calculations.

If Chemistry is not your cup of tea or you have had trouble mastering it in the past, Chem Pro can be very useful. It’d be nice if social features are introduced in the future though.

The Elements is one of the most popular iPhone apps around, especially if you are majoring in Chemistry. It has been getting a lot of coverage in the media for its dynamic interface and unique features. The developers behind this app have now optimized this app for iPhone 4. The Elements is the periodic table on steroids. Your periodic table has pictures of the elements, which you can tap on to find out more information about each elements. Certainly beats playing with those paper tables and charts.

The Elements not only gives you a more dynamic way to explore the elements, it also gives you a wealth of information on each one. Great way to master the table inside and out. The fact that Wolfram|Alpha engine is integrated in this app is a big plus.

Chemistry is not going to fun for everyone. At least not until you try The Elements. The more you play with this app, the better sense you’ll have on what this science is all about. This version of The Elements is optimized for iPhone 4, so if you have just picked up your new phone, this is another fun app to own. Very impressive design and interface.

Rating: 8.5/10

I don’t know about you but I always found the periodic table fun. In fact, I was a chemistry junkie when I was a tad bit younger. I spent so much time memorizing anything there was to know about the periodic table. But kids today won’t have to know everything. In fact, it’s better to set time to learn more useful concepts. But every Chemistry student starts from here. ChemQuizr is an iPhone app that allows you to start learning the table at your own pace. The application allows you to quiz yourself on the elements that you forget, and it puts Wikipedia one click away.

Overall, ChemQuizr is a very simple application designed for newbie chemists. It doesn’t set the world ablaze, but it’s fun to play with.

Verdict: 3.25/5.
">Solutions is another useful chemistry application. It’s what I call the “mole master.” It helps you calculate the weight of chemicals and their moles.

Now this is not earth shattering chemistry, but as a former chemistry tutor, I have seen it with my eyes that folks struggle with these concepts when taking their first chemistry classes. Solutions application is useful as it helps you figure out the whole mole thing, but also allows you to save your favorite chemicals’ information for the future.

Who know Chemistry could be this fun. Well. Before you come out and call me a nerd, I’ve got a confession to make. I have been always amazed with the table of elements. It’s just an amazing table that shows how complex things are in our world (though they look very simple to some of us).

The Chemical touch comes with two tables really. On one side you get the periodic table. On the other you get amino acids (Yummy!).As you can see below, you can also find all kinds of useful information such as mole and even the chemical structure.

You can also get the PH information. OK. Here is the thing. This application is great for chemistry majors. It is a must have for college students taking early chemistry courses. I am kind of old school and I remember I had the whole table memorized, but now that I think about it, it’s just nuts. So if you are a chemistry major, I don’t think the $0.99 cost will kill you. Chemistry Touch costs less than what I pay for coffee every day.
