Depending on your instrument, PerfectTune allows you to tune it to a different variety of tunings. The interface is very easy to use and intuitive. As you choose a tuning for your instrument, the layout is updated to help you adjust to the changes fast. You have to appreciate the calibration system that helps you tune to fixed-pitch instruments.

The good news is that the app is very easy to use and intuitive, so regardless of your level of play, PerfectTune has something for you. The bad news is that iPod Touch users will need a microphone to take advantage of this app. Not a big deal in the end. All in all, PerfectTune is yet another tuning app for iPhone.

ToneTune is an innovative tuning application that lets you tune your instruments by ear fast. I am personally not an expert when it comes to music, but being able to tune my guitar is a big deal to me. ToneTune comes with 60+ tunings that help you tune your stringed instruments. Whether you own a violin, a tambura, or just a sangen, you are covered with ToneTune.

You are going to need a good headphone to get the best out of this app. You get 128 playable notes, and the interface is very intuitive, allowing you to find the right instrument or notes easily. You can also adjust the frequency, volume, and delay before play, and …

All in all, if you are a musician looking for app to help you tune your stringed instruments, look no further than ToneTune. Chordmaster is a cool iPhone application for musicians that provides you with everything you need to play your guitar like a pro. Chordmaster is essentially a library of 7800 guitar cords. It comes with a fretboard that lets you see the notes and fingerings without too much trouble.

I also like the fact that a lefty can change the settings of this application to take advantage of what’s offered here. The application is capable of showing chords in multiple fretboard positions. You can also hear and play cords by using the strings available with this app. This application is not for the faint of heart. If you are a serious musician, you are going to enjoy this a lot. On the other hand, if you are a newbie like me, you may want use other guitar applications in conjunction with Chordmaster.

PocketGuitar is another cool music application for iPhone owners. It literally turns your iPhone into a virtual guitar. You can press and strum string, and play music like you would with a real guitar.

But PocketGuitar is more than just a virtual guitar. You can play all of the below guitars with PocketGuitar:

• Classical (oh yeah!)

You can also chose effects such as Distortion, Chorus, and Delay to create really cool music.

PocketGuitar is not perfect. I had a bit of trouble actually playing the guitar, and it did freeze on my twice. The application does have ways to go before getting anything close to the real thing, but as long as you have that in mind, you are going to have fun with PocketGuitar. And you don’t have to spend more than a dollar to get it!

Talk about a useful iPhone app for musicians. 7 Chords by Wunderwerk is a great example of a successful iPhone application that is not a game. Most folks think that only games can be very successful on the iPhone platform, but 7 Chords is not a game, and yet, it is very successful.

7 Chords is one of the few guitar iPhone apps available on iTunes, but is probably the most technical one. In essence, this cool little application teaches you how to learn notes and it even teaches you which fingers to use. Seven Chords comes with notes for both Electric and Acoustic guitar.

7 Chords note book is so comprehensive that you can use it as a chord encyclopedia. While the applications works well for intermediate guitarists, beginners can learn a lot with 7 Chords.
