BiPlane is a cool little game for the iPhone that allows you to put yourself in the pilot seat with Captain Raccoon and try to fight off pirates. The games is designed for folks who are into plane games. You fly through cities and all kinds of locations, and that’s what makes it fun.

You get two game modes on this application. The arcade mode involves you defending the island and your city against pirate attacks. The race mode gives you the opportunity to complete the 18 tracks as soon as possible. And you can gain bonus time by picking up goodies.

Overall, Biplane is an addictive application that is very simple and the graphics are decent as well. Perfect for those down times.

In the past few months, I have the privilege of reviewing hundreds of iPhone applications. But if you look at the apps that have dominated the iTunes charts, fun apps with simple concepts are always rewarded by the iPhone community. Flight Control is another one of those fun games that is based on a simple concept, but it’s so much fun that you wouldn’t want to put down your handheld.

Flight Control gives you completely control over LA’s air space. Your goal is to land aircraft without any incidents. It sounds easy, but as you keep going, the game gets real tough. The graphics are impressive, and the game is fun. You can also listen to music and play the game at the same time (I recommend Alternative).

You get 4 different aircract including helicopters. The controls are very intuitve, and it’s hard to get enough of this app. It would be nice to see multiplayer capability added to this app, but the game is already so much fun. If you are looking for a fun little game to relieve your stress, Flight Control may be one to go with.

Talk about a killer flight simulator for iPhone. Sully’s Flight is the reenactment of Chesley Sullenberger’s flight of January 15th from LaGuardia. Remember the Hudson river miracle? You’ve got to give credit to the programmers behind this game for taking that angle and making it work big time on this app.

You start at LaGuardia in an Airbus A-320 at similar time and weather that the captain experienced a few months ago. Your goal is to duplicate the outcome, this time on your iPhone. I am sure a lot of you appreciate what the hero captain accomplished on that day. But for those of you who think you could’ve done it too, let’s see if you are up for the task on your iPhone.

The game is not that hard. As long as you can avoid losing control when the birds hit you, you are going to be fine. But don’t underestimate this game. If you do, you are going to crash badly. And don’t forget that you are supposed to get hit by those birds. That’s the whole point behind this game. And don’t forget that the Captain did it in real life. If you are looking for a realistic flight simulator, Sully’s Flight is another good option.

Flight simulation is one of the most popular gaming categories on any platform. Armageddon Squadron by Polarbit brings this genre to the iPhone platform. The game brings memories of the World War II, if you are actually old enough to remember ( I am not!). But the planes and bombers that you have belong to that era.

Your goal with this game to bomb the heck out of targets on the ground, and at the same time defend your position against other planes. You get a machine gun, bombs, torpedoes, and rockets (my favorite). The graphics are stunning, and the game is very entertaining. But this flight simulator is not for the faint of heart. The game can get frustrating as you struggle to go through enemies. I know that doesn’t usually discourage me, but some folks do get frustrated. It’s a tough but entertaining game. If you decide to go with Armageddon Squadron, I do encourage you to get started with time trials.
