I have been trying to learn Spanish for months, and one way or another I find a way to get postpone the process. Thanks to the iPhone, I no longer need to rely on a CD or a book to start learning a few words and put together a few sentences together. Too Cool Spanish is one of those apps that teaches you how to say common words and expressions in Spanish by making up English phrases that sound just the same. It’s not designed to make you an advanced Spanish speaker, but it does come handy for beginners.

The app is very simple to use and fun to play with for adults and kids alike. Once you have chosen a phrase to learn in Spanish, you are going to be provided with its pronunciation in English words. Pictures are also going to be a part of the notes once in a while. So the app essentially tries to make it more fun to learn Spanish.

All in all, Too Cool Spanish is a fun application to start learning some Spanish. It’s not designed to make you as good as native speakers, and it’s certainly not a comprehensive Spanish training program. But it does get you started with the most common Spanish phrases that you need to know to get by in a Spanish-speaking country. It’s easy to use, affordable, and fun. Great for kids too.
