Those of you who are old enough to remember the days of Commodore and Basic programming appreciate how far this field has come in the past dozen of years. Programming Basic was a lot of fun and quite time consuming at times, considering that Basic was not a sophisticated language with advanced debugging tools at the time. Those good old days of programming may be gone, but the fun never has to end as long as you have Basic! for iPhone.

Basic! for iPhone is a great tool to practice your knowledge of Basic language on your iPhone. You are better off studying Basic a tad bit if you have forgotten the commands or syntax. The app does have sample programs to get you started with. Just type in your code, make sure you have the right syntax, and compile your work. Basic! for iPhone supports multiple functions. It has an enhanced help section for those of you needing some help to get moving with it.

I like the fact that code can be printed conveniently in this app. Users can also send their code via e-mail. The sample program section can be useful if you have never written Basic code from scratch or need a refresher on how to do certain things in Basic!

Basic! may be a bit on the geeky side as an iPhone app. At the same time, it can help you keep your brain sharp and bring back good old memories. What’s not to like? More sample codes and an even  more sophisticated user interface would be nice though.
