FoodScanner

Have you ever gone to a store and picked up an item wondering whether it’s a good addition to your daily diet. Maybe it contains more calorie that you can handle in your daily diet. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could find out more about what you are picking up on your iPhone? FoodScanner is an exciting app that lets you scan UPC bar-codes and find out how much calorie you are taking in from each food.

I have to say I was a bit skeptical about testing this app. I have tried so many bar code scanners, and a lot of them are a waste of time. They either do not work at all and those that work do so only 25% of the time. But I decided to give FoodScanner a try mainly due to the innovative concept behind the app. I have to say I was surprised with the results. The app is able to accurately tell you more about the items you are picking up at the store. As long as you follow the instructions, you should be able to get this app to work easily.

Foodscanner is backed by DailyBurn’s 200K+ foods that can help you track your calorie intake and stay on track on a daily basis. You can find food by either scanning UPC barcodes or if you like to do it the good old way, you can always type the name of your food. Foodscanner allows you to sync with your DailyBurn account, which I recommend for those who need to track and analyze their information more effeectively.

Overall, I found the app very easy to use and quite effective. It’s true that it doesn’t work all the time, but the success rate is much higher than other apps that I have seen. You can also enter additional items manually, so that’s a plus. Foodscanner is quite innovative and makes tracking calories fun. Great concept, decent execution.
