History is all around us. No matter where you live, your area has gone through many changes over the years. Of course, some areas have more well-known history than others. Historypin is an exciting application that gives you a glimpse of the past. It shows photos related to your current location so you can get a view of the old world.

Historypin has a ton of images and stories for you to explore. You can browse through them by date or location. I like the fact that you can compare the present with the past to see how certain areas have gone through changes. When you take a new photo with the app, it is immediately pinned with the captions and stories that you add.

Historypin also helps you digitize your old photos. Just take a picture to pin them. Users can always go through collections from anywhere from Historypin.com. This project was created by We Are What We Do in partnership with Google.

Historypin is free at the time of this writing. It helps you get a better appreciation for the history all around you. It works on both iPhone and iPad.
