Dark Sky Finder for iPhone

By  |

Watching the stars can be a lot of fun. You don’t necessarily need to spend a ton of money to explore the objects in the sky at your own pace. But you are going to need a dark sky to actually see things. Unfortunately, light pollution keeps many of us from enjoying exciting astronomical events in our locations. Dark Sky Finder is a handy tool that finds you dark skies near you.

Dark Sky Finder finds you places that you can take your telescope to watch a meteor shower and other types of events. It shows you the light pollution map of North America and places that are great for sky observation. I like the fact that you can add new places you can find to the app. Users get to pull in information on transparency and other conditions using the Clear Sky Charts. The app includes the Bortle Scale too.

Dark Sky Finder is a pretty useful tool for people who are looking for a dark place to do some stargazing. It does not include every location possible but has enough to get you started. This can be a great time saver for amateur astronomers.
