Google Currents

By  |

Move over Flipboard. There is a new sheriff in town. At least when it comes to personalized magazine apps. Google Currents lets you read articles from your favorite websites on your iPhone, iPad, and Android devices. Not every website you visit has a mobile friendly layout. Thanks to Google Currents, even the ugliest sites look elegant on your smartphone.

For starters, Google Currents looks quite elegant on both the iPhone and iPad. It lets you manage your own library of sites. The trending editions section gives you access to great content you can consume anytime. Google Currents is compatible with Google Reader too. Feed organization does need a bit of work, especially if you have too many stories in your library.

Google Currents offers high speed offline reading. What’s nice about this is you can keep up with your favorite sites on your tablets and phones even if they are not all Apple devices. Google Currents is not perfect by any means. Support for Google Reader needs to be much better. But the app has a lot of potential.
