There are plenty of games, social networking, and productivity apps that one can get his/her hands on through iTunes. eCBT Mood is not one of those everyday apps. In fact, I had never heard such a mobile app existed until the developers reached out to us. eCBT Mood is designed for those who want to change their mood by taking advantage of cognitive behavioral therapy.
Electronic CBT is an innovative method to identify what fuels one’s depression and how to go about address that problem. I am no medical or psychology expert, but it’s pretty obvious that this app doesn’t replace antidepressants. The developers don’t promise that either. But the app could help one find out more about herself and better deal with those periods of depression.
The app comes with daily and weekly mood assessment feature that helps you identify and keep track of your progress. If you are seeing a professional, this app could help as well. You can share your progress with them and see whether you are on the right path.
In these tough times, there are many of us that could be suffering from episodes of depression. This app doesn’t promise to solve your issues and eliminate depression from your life for good. But it could come in handy especially if you use it in conjunction with other solutions. Certainly a unique concept for an app.
