Solar Walk

Our solar system is truly a wonderful place to explore regardless of how good you are in astronomy. A few years ago, you’d have to rely on books and computer software to find out more about our solar system. These days, you can rely on apps such as Solar Walk to explore to heavens in a more interactive fashion. Solar Walk, which is the first 3D astronomy app, not only has the looks but can teach you a thing or two about the planets and the sun in our system.

Solar Walk has some of the best graphics we have seen. It lets users find out more about the objects in our solar system (and their moons too). The objects look very realistic and the animations in this app are quite smooth. You are going to need a special 3D glass to enjoy the 3D mode but it’s nice to have the capability regardless.

I like the fact that you can travel through time and observe the objects as the time goes by. You can zoom in and out and see our solar system from different angles. The information section provides you with background info on the objects in our system as well as relevant information such as object radius, mass, and much more.

Solar Walk is a super interactive astronomy app that gives a whole new meaning to exploring the objects in the heavens on a phone. It has great graphics, smooth animation, and a ton of information for users to learn. Who needs astronomy books with these types of apps around?
