Star Walk is one of the more popular astronomy apps on the market that gives amateurs and professionals a taste of what astronomy on iPhone is all about. Not everyone has time to study astronomy and read facts about objects in the sky. With Star Walk, you can go about discovering new objects in the sky without having to read a thick science book or needing a telescope.

Star Walk gives you information on 9000 stars, planets, and constellations. Star Walk takes advantage of your iPhone’s digital compass to enable you to watch the sky live on your iPhone screen. You can then go about moving your iPhone around and view different objects on your phone. I also liked the Time Machine feature. It’s nice to have the option to see what the sky will look like on a specific date.

Star Walk can show you moon phases as well. If you need more information on objects, you can always use Star Walk to learn more or just find links to Wikipedia. The “Picture of the Day” feature is a plus as well.

Star Walk may not have some of the features that you will see in professional astronomy apps for iPhone. But it’s a great app to play with for amateur astronomers. It’s affordable as well. If you are into stargazing and want to take your game to the next level, Star Walk has you covered.
