World Cup 2010 still has a couple of weeks to go. It’s the biggest sporting event in the world. No wonder so many people take time out of their schedule to travel to these events. Traveling to all these different countries (if you have been going to past World Cups too) can be a lot of fun. But unless you are a genius, you are going to need some help finding your way around these places. Fan Connect is an iPhone app that is designed to help those of you who are planning to make a trip to South Africa find your way around.

The app provides you with the latest news and match updates. It helps you get yourself more familiar with squads and stadiums. Best of all, Fan Connect can find you places to visit, shop, or eat. The maps are a plus too.

I don’t know about you, but I speak only two languages. That may be enough in some situations, but you never know when you are going to need help in a foreign country. That’s why the translator feature is very helpful. The list of emergency numbers available in this app is nice to have too.

Fan Connect may not be as fancy as some of those premium applications for travelers. But for a free app, it offers a lot of value. Does not hurt to have it with you if you are planning to take a trip to that side of the world.
