There are plenty of apps that can show you what you are looking at in the sky. You are always going to have more fun stargazing with your telescope and astrophotography gear though. AstroAid for iPhone helps visualize what you will see through your telescope.

This app computes parameters for your telescope/eyepiece combination, including actual field of view, magnification, and visual magnitude limit. It also comes with a bunch of astronomical catalogues built-in.
